THE DAY OF HEROES CELEBRATED BY DANUBIUS UNIVERSITY

Heroes' Day is a national holiday of the Romanian people, celebrated every year on Ascension Day - a great Christian holiday, which marks the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, 40 days after the Resurrection.

On May 25, 2023, "Danubius" University through the Faculty of Communication and International Relations and the Center for Danubian Studies and Research will participate in the activity organized on the occasion of Heroes' Day.

The activity will take place in Liberty Square in Ruse (Bulgaria), at the Statue of Romanian Heroes who fell on Bulgarian soil in the War of Independence (1877-1878).

In this activity, together with the representatives of the "Danubius" University, the following also participate: representatives of the local authorities from Chirnogi commune (Călărași county) - the initiators of this activity; representatives of the Association of Reserve and Retired Military Cadres "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" sector 5, Bucharest and representatives of the Cultural Association "La noi la Români".

 

On behalf of "Danubius" University, the following will participate:

  - prof. univ. dr. Filofteia Repez;

  - student Robert-Alexandru Foca-MSRI year I.


Expanding the Horizon of a Rising Global University:  Danubius University Goes to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Picture3In the spirit of his own words that say, “a good university is a universal institution insofar as knowledge is universal,” and the vision to transform Danubius University into a global institution, Dr. Steve O. Michael, Rector and CEO of Danubius University traveled to Pakistan from May 10-16, 2023 to meet with Pakistani higher education leaders.  When asked why Pakistan, Dr. Michael responded that “a university is not a political organization that chooses alliances based on political ideology.  A university is a knowledge industry that embraces the globe, and we go where a door of opportunity opens to learn, to teach, to collaborate, to contribute, and to form partnerships. By so doing, we transform the world.” 

Picture4The door of opportunity opened when Ms. Georgeta Topciu and her company, ICDL, signed an MOU with Danubius University to serve as the sole representative of Danubius University in Pakistan.  Ms. Topciu and her son, Stefan Vrabie, facilitated meetings with high level Pakistani officials, which also include the Romania Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency, Mr. Nicolae Goia

Picture5At the signing ceremony with Bahria University, Ambassador Goia provided a brief history and vision of Romania and its friendly relationship with the people of Pakistan.  He specifically welcomed Danubius University and noted that “Danubius University is the first Romanian institution to sign an agreement with a major institution in Pakistan.”  Ambassador Goia promises to support the initiative as he continues to expand Romania-Pakistani relationship. 

Picture6The host university, Bahria University was led by the Rector, Rear Admiral (R) Asif Khaliq HI(M), who joined remotely, and Pro Rector of Academics, Rear Admiral (R.) Muhammad Arshid Javed SI(M) who signed the MOU on behalf of the University.  Rector Khaliq welcomed Ambassador Goia and Rector Michael to his campus, expressed his regrets for his inability to be present because of the commencement ceremony at his Karachi campus, and stated his university’s full commitment to the MOU and the new relationship with Danubius University.  Other officials at the ceremony include Dr. M Awais Mehmood, Director of International Office, who facilitated the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naveed, Dean of Management Sciences; Dr. Usman Hameed, Dean and Professor Law; Prof. Dr. Adam Saud, Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

 

 

 

 


EIRP 2023 Conference

The 18th edition of the International Conference European Integration - Realities and Perspectives. World Institutional Challenges in the post-COVID Era took place in a hybrid format, in the Aula Magna and online, with the keynote speakers being from the USA, Spain, Malaysia and China. The main theme of this edition focused on the role of university education in people's lives, regardless of the culture or the country we each belong to, we are all under the impact that education has on us.

At the opening of the event, the President of the UDG, Univ. Conf. Dr. Andy Pusca, told the audience about the history of this international conference, about the personalities who contributed to the success of this event, through the scientific works they presented throughout the 18 editions, and about its importance for the academic life of the University Danubius.

EIRP2023 Manager, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Prof. univ. dr. Florian Nuta, presented the theme and keynote speakers of this edition, and the Rector of UDG, Professor Steve O. Michael presented the latest research on the university education system and its role for the nations of the world in the year 2023.

The works presented within EIRP2023 had as themes main:

  • Legal sciences in the new millennium
  • The European citizen and public administration
  • Green economy and sustainable development Modeling growth – challenges and opportunities
  • International relations in the contemporary world.
  • Geopolitics and Diplomacy
  • The Interdisciplinary Dimensions of Communication Science

  • The New Paradigm of FinTech and CyberSecurity

UDG Rector, Prof. Steve O. Michael, present at the DC NEWS Conference "Higher Education in Romania, facing new challenges"

The Rector of Danubius University, Prof. univ. Dr. Steve O. Michael, participated, online, on May 19, at the Conference "Higher Education in Romania, in the face of new challenges", organized by DC News, which had as debate themes:

  • Higher Education, in the light the new legislative package
  • PNRR-a solution to the need for investments in higher education and research?
  • The situation of dual education in Romania
  • The digitalization of the educational process
  • How is the new academic year prepared: the offer of Romanian universities for the new generation of students
  • The competitive advantages of Romanian education on the world education market.
  • The message conveyed by Professor Michael referred to the role and concerns of the university education system to transform civilizations, to build successful nations, to help economic prosperity, to bring political stability, or to grow and promote scientific discoveries. In conclusion, the UDG Rector mentioned the quote by Peter Thiel, American entrepreneur and philanthropist, who says that "higher education presents itself as a kind of universal church, outside of which there is no salvation.
