Danubius University Leadership attended the Integration and Innovation: International Conference on Language Services and Areas Studies in the Digital Age in China

In October, Danubius University` s Rector, Dr. Steve O. Michael and professors, Dr. Panaitescu Manuela Carmen and Dr. Tureac Cornelia Elena, participated in a conference entitled "Integration and Innovation: International Conference on Language Services and Area Studies in the Digital Age", organized by the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE), China in collaboration with Danubius University (DU). The conference that took place in Nanchang, China attracted over 120 experts, scholars, teachers, and researchers from 15 countries.

At the opening ceremony, Chen Shifa, on behalf of the Jiangxi University extended a warm welcome to the Chinese and foreign experts and scholars attending the meeting, and briefly introduced the school’s history, development, achievements, and outstanding contributions in recent years. He looked forward to experts having in-depth discussions on the theme during the academic report session and welcomed Danubius University as a joint sponsor of the conference.

In his opening speech, the DU` s Rector, Dr. Steve O. Michael, briefly introduced the history of Danubius University. He conveyed Danubius University’s greetings to the attendees and to the leadership of the Jiangxi University, and wished the centenary celebration was a complete success. Dr. Michael extended invitation to participants, ”all experts and scholars present here are welcome to visit Europe and Danubius University in Romania for exchanges and cooperation.”

As the keynote speaker, Dr. Michael presented on “The Future of Language Education: The Prospect and Peril of AI Technology,” during which he noted that the perceptions of educators are diametrically opposite to those of IT experts with regard to the implications of AI in education and called for these two groups to hold more joint dialogue.

In addition, Dr. Michael was invited to presented two lectures to students. The titles of these two lectures are: Education for Global Leadership: Importance of the Study Abroad Experience (Lecture to Graduate Students of School of Business Administration, JUFE) and Education for Global Leadership: Realizing the Vision of Belt and Road Initiative (Lecture to Students and Faculty Members of School of Foreign Languages and Areas Studies, JUFE).

Dr. Panaitescu and Dr. Tureac, from the School of Economic Sciences and Business Administration, Danubius University had a presentation about the Intercultural Communication in the Digital Age.

The conference reflects three international characteristics. First, it was co-organized by two universities, one from China and the other from Romania. Second, the speakers were from different countries. Third, the topics of the reports were related to language services, regional and country studies, and cross-cultural exchanges.

At the closing ceremony, Rector Michael, conveyed participants’ gratitude to JUFE and especially to the hosts, Dr. Julie and Dr. Sam..and the student volunteers who worked diligently to ensure that everyone was comfortable. He reminded the audience that the 2024 conference will be in Romania and they should learn how to say a few words in Romanian. He taught them how to say ,,Buna dimineata!,,( Good Morning!) and ,,La revedere!,, (Goodbye!).


Dr. Gabriela Mustata   Wilson, about the power of collaboration in research

Gabriela Mustata Wilson, PhD, MSc, FHIMSS, SNAI, FIAHSI, Co-Director of the Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics and Director of Health Informatics and Public Health Informatics

Professor, Kinesiology, College of Nursing and Health Innovation, The University of Texas at Arlington gave a lecture at Danubius University about the importance of collaboration in research projects. Dr. Wilson emphasized the realization of projects in partnership with other higher education institutions, private companies, NGOs and state institutions, which, together, will realize valuable projects for the communities involved and for the whole world, the examples of good practices offered being convincing.

In the dynamic landscape of Biomedical Informatics and Public Health Informatics, collaboration has emerged as a transformative force that fuels innovation, accelerates research, and drives workforce development. This presentation delves into “The Power of Collaboration,” exploring the synergies between these two critical domains. Research and workforce development initiatives in public health informatics, biomedical informatics and data science will be provided to demonstrate how collaboration has become the key player for advancing knowledge, improving healthcare outcomes, and preparing a future-ready workforce.

Dr. Gabriela Mustata Wilson is an internationally recognized health informatics expert passionate about harnessing the power of research and translating it into community action. With extensive experience in both industry and academia, Dr. Wilson currently serves as a Professor and Founding Co-Director of the Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics (MICHI) at the University of Texas at Arlington and the Director of MICHI’s Health and Public Health Informatics division. With a background in chemical engineering, pharmacoinformatics, health informatics, and public health informatics, Dr. Wilson’s most recent activities focus on workforce development in public health informatics, biomedical informatics, and biotechnology, including research and education to address racial injustice and health inequity. She is a Fellow member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics, a Senior National Academy of Inventors member, and member of the American-Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences. For her contributions to the Health Informatics field and ongoing commitment to driving transformational change and leading towards improved health outcomes through the advancement of the best use of information and technology, Dr. Gabriela Wilson received the prestigious 2023 HIMSS Changemaker in Health, Most Influential Women in Health IT Award.


The International Conference Digital Challenge 2023 - "Digital Innovation for a Sustainable Future"

The International Conference Digital Challenge 2023 - "Digital Innovation for a Sustainable Future" is an event organized as part of the Digital Challenge competition, which focuses on the presentation and discussion of papers and research in the field of technology and computer science. During the scientific session, participants have the opportunity to present their projects, studies and findings to an audience of experts, professionals and other participants.

This Conference provides an environment conducive to sharing knowledge, receiving feedback and stimulating debate and collaboration between researchers and technology enthusiasts.

Participants can present papers and research in various subfields of technology and computer science, such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, software development, computer networks, big data, the Internet of Things, and more. These presentations can be in oral or poster format. The Digital Challenge science session offers participants the opportunity to improve their science communication skills, receive recognition for their work, and network with technology professionals and researchers.

It is an important time when participants can present and promote their innovations and discoveries and contribute to the advancement of IT knowledge and technologies.

THE ORIENTATION WEEK FOR DANUBIUS STUDENTS HAS BEGUN

The Student Affairs Department has opened a series of events for our freshmen, organizing the ORIENTATION WEEK FOR DANUBIUS STUDENTS, to provide all the necessary information about the online study platform, about the computer labs, psychology, thank you, about the television studio and about the possibilities and research directions and about the Center for Counseling and Career Guidance! Professors from all four schools, together with the President of the Board of Administration, Dr. Andy Pusca, by the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Dr. Florian Nuta, by the Vice-Rector for Didactic Activity, Dr. Filip Stanciu, together with the deans and the representatives of the support departments, interacted with the students and presented all the details of "DANUBIUS student life"!

The most awaited moment of the first day of this program was the one dedicated to the presentation of the online platform study, carried out by Dr. Alina Nuta, Director of the Department of Distance and Low-Frequency Education. Meetings with representatives of the Student Relations Department continue on Thursdays, also, from 4:00 P.M.
