It’s a round and round-up year for us, the 30 th in our history, and a year full of challenges too.
This is the year when we also have to start the construction of a bridge, here at Danubius. An evolution bridge. But it’s the fourth in our career.
And our belonging to the international academic world will also depend on this bridge that we have to build in the coming years. But the bridge that we quite start in this academic year has a big chance of success as it represents, in fact, the materialization of a dream, of an apparently.
Without physically enlarging – and even without increasing its carbon footprint – our university evolved from a regional rank institution with national reputation to an educational corporation about which many have heard around the world.
Moreover, we have become more visible at home too for our sustained efforts in building local clusters with international implications and enjoying international support. The clusters we have initiated or participated into deal with critical issues like Green Energy, Health, Naval Transport, Creative Industries and IT, the last resulting in a new faculty within our university.
Notably, the number of education fields has tripled since the foundation of Danubius. Today, we serve our community with educational services including fields of study as Digital Media, Pedagogy and Social Care too.
It is in our power to distinguish ourselves as experts in the fields in which we operate, to find the most effective ways to weld teams, to become leaders of the academic platform and to drive the development of society. It is in our power to maintain and raise the academic standards to which we have been active so far in order to become new models for others.
Harmony comes from welfare, welfare is achieved through professionalism. Professionalism is built through education.
Our mission should be clear: we must continue to believe in education, civilisation, power of words against weapons, of science and culture against preconceptions and hate.
This is why the 30 years we celebrate today may look many in terms of accumulations and experience. But they may look just few when thinking about the many opportunities the internationalization opens to us and how many things we have to build sometimes from scratch, given the global context presently redesigned.
A new academic year - the best you can have! And I wish you happy years, as many as possible and full of professional satisfaction from what you learned in our university!
