Announcement – International Scientific Conference Organized by the Faculty of International Governance and Law

The Faculty of International Governance and Law of Danubius International University announces the organization of a high-level international academic conference, carried out in partnership with CIRET – Centre International de Recherches et Études Transdisciplinaires (France):

POLYPHONIC DIPLOMACY: INTELLIGIBILITY, DESIGN, AND THE UNSAID
A transdisciplinary conference inspired by The Manifesto of Transdisciplinarity by Basarab Nicolescu.

The event will bring together researchers, diplomats, academic leaders and international specialists in order to analyse how contemporary diplomacy can be rethought in a global context marked by complexity, technological transformations and symbolic tensions that go beyond the classical frameworks of negotiation.

Format: hybrid international conference (in-person and online participation)
Venue: Danubius International University, Romania
Online platform: Zoom
Period: September 2026 (final dates will be confirmed later)
Working language: English

Participation is free of charge for both speakers and attendees. Registered participants will receive official electronic certificates of attendance, issued jointly by Danubius International University and CIRET.

The conference proposes an in-depth analysis of contemporary diplomatic situations in which conflicts are generated not only by strategic or legal interests, but also by symbolic, narrative or socio-affective dimensions, such as historical traumas, collective humiliations or cultural taboos amplified by accelerated media ecosystems.

Inspired by the transdisciplinary perspective formulated by Basarab Nicolescu, the conference explores how Levels of Reality, the logic of the Included Third and the principle of Complexity can contribute to the development of new models of diplomatic intelligibility and institutional design.

Scientific axes of the conference:
– Diplomatic intelligibility in relation to Levels of Reality
– The “Unsaid” in diplomacy
– Diplomatic design and the logic of the Included Third
– Polyphonic diplomacy and the integration of plural narratives into negotiation formats
– International law and transdisciplinarity

The conference is also conceived as an academic homage to the thought of Basarab Nicolescu, bringing together interdisciplinary contributions dedicated to the evolution of diplomacy, international relations, international law and institutional mechanisms in a world characterized by complexity.
