The screening of the film Young Washington took place at the Museum of Visual Art in Galați as part of the “Freedom250” series of events organized by the Public Diplomacy Office of the Embassy of the United States of America in Romania, dedicated to commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. The event was attended by the Rector & CEO of Danubius International University, Dr. Steve O. Michael, and the President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Andy Pușca, who were among the invited guests. The film, made available to the U.S. Embassy through the American Film Showcase (AFS), a cultural diplomacy initiative of the U.S. Department of State implemented in partnership with the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, explores the formative years of George Washington, highlighting the experiences and challenges that shaped his development prior to his becoming the first President of the United States of America.
The event provided participants with an opportunity to explore, through the medium of film, a perspective on a significant period in American history. The production addresses themes such as determination, leadership, strategic thinking, and the transformation of challenging experiences into opportunities for personal growth. The screening was followed by a discussion with the audience, moderated by Ms. Tabatha Fairclough, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the United States of America in Romania.
