Tactical Communication in Law Enforcement – Interdisciplinary Perspectives and Intervention Strategies within the International Symposium

The International Symposium “Tactical Communication in Law Enforcement”, held on May 14, 2026, in the Senate Hall of Danubius International University, represented an interdisciplinary academic forum dedicated to the analysis of communication mechanisms employed in the management of high-tension situations specific to the field of public order. The official opening of the event was conducted by the President of the Board of Administration, Associate Professor Andy Corneliu Pușcă, PhD, and the Rector of the University and CEO, Professor Steve O. Michael, PhD, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of developing tactical communication competencies in the context of contemporary challenges faced by law enforcement institutions. The symposium brought together specialists from the legal, psychological, and public order sectors, addressing topics such as the continuum of force, modern policing strategies, Aristotelian rhetoric, the dynamics of perception and emotion in operational interventions, as well as concepts including tactical empathy, transactional analysis, and interest-based negotiation.

During the plenary session dedicated to tactical communication, the keynote speakers delivered presentations focused on both the theoretical and practical dimensions of intervention in critical situations. Professor Țuțu Pișleag, PhD, addressed the topic “The Continuum of Force: From the Power of Words to Lethal Force”, highlighting the role of communication in preventing conflict escalation. Furthermore, Associate Professor Lăcrămioara Mocanu, PhD, psychologist, emphasized the importance of tactical empathy in crisis interventions, defining it as an essential strategic instrument for relationship-building and for enhancing the efficiency of operational actions. Through its interdisciplinary approach and the complexity of the themes discussed, the symposium underscored the relevance of persuasive communication and practice-oriented training in strengthening the intervention capacity of law enforcement structures.
