The School of International Governance and Law is pleased to announce that Associate Professor Cristina Elena Popa Tache, PhD, Dean of the Faculty, has been invited to join the Steering Committee of the Existential Threats and Risks for All (EXTRA) Working Group, an initiative of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS).
WAAS is one of the world's most distinguished international academic organizations. Founded in 1960 at the initiative of leading intellectual figures, including Albert Einstein, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and Bertrand Russell, the Academy was established to bring together leaders in science, education, public policy, and culture to develop solutions to humanity's most pressing global challenges. Throughout its history, WAAS has brought together numerous Nobel Prize laureates, heads of state, distinguished scholars, and internationally recognized experts.
The EXTRA (Existential Threats and Risks for All) Working Group is currently developing an InfoHub dedicated to monitoring and analysing global existential risks, bringing together specialists in global governance, international law, artificial intelligence, security, climate change, and sustainable development.
The appointment of Associate Professor Cristina Elena Popa Tache to the Steering Committee represents international recognition of her expertise in global governance, emerging technologies, international law, and legal foresight. It also strengthens the international visibility of the School of International Governance and Law and of the University as a whole.
This appointment creates valuable opportunities for expanding international academic partnerships, participating in high-impact research initiatives, engaging with global expert networks, and enhancing the University's scientific and institutional profile in the fields of governance, law, and public policy.
