“Young Washington” – Part of the Events Marking the 250th Anniversary of the Founding of the United States

The screening of the film Young Washington took place at the Museum of Visual Art in Galați as part of the “Freedom250” series of events organized by the Public Diplomacy Office of the Embassy of the United States of America in Romania, dedicated to commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. The event was attended by the Rector & CEO of Danubius International University, Dr. Steve O. Michael, and the President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Andy Pușca, who were among the invited guests. The film, made available to the U.S. Embassy through the American Film Showcase (AFS), a cultural diplomacy initiative of the U.S. Department of State implemented in partnership with the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, explores the formative years of George Washington, highlighting the experiences and challenges that shaped his development prior to his becoming the first President of the United States of America.

The event provided participants with an opportunity to explore, through the medium of film, a perspective on a significant period in American history. The production addresses themes such as determination, leadership, strategic thinking, and the transformation of challenging experiences into opportunities for personal growth. The screening was followed by a discussion with the audience, moderated by Ms. Tabatha Fairclough, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the United States of America in Romania.

Transformative Learning and Success: The LanguageCert B2 Experience

In August 2026, Danubius International University (DIU) professors successfully prepared for and took the LanguageCert International ESOL exam (B2–C2). Launched as a pilot project by the Lifelong Learning and Technological Information Department, this initiative established a proven model ready for regional expansion.

Below, test takers share their experiences:

“Taking the B2 exam online provided a modern, stress-free environment that built real-world confidence through engaging dialogue”. Mrs Chiriă’s patience, clarity, and pedagogical skills created a joyful learning space”. “All participants were encouraged to speak freely and share not only professional ideas but also personal passions like folk dancing, painting, and cooking.”

“Rather than rigid grammar rules, the exam evaluated living, dynamic communication”. “Stepping back into the role of evaluated learners was a rewarding "test of courage" for DIU faculty, proving that language mastery thrives on interactive community and authentic connection”.

As promised by Mr Rector Steve O. Michael, all test takers will be reimbursed—you will be contacted in person with further  details.

Congratulations to our newly LanguageCert-certified colleagues!

Associate Lecturer, PhD Mrs Ioana Ignat,

I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity. As Mr. President Andy Pusca noted, " "Every now and then, it's good practice for teachers to sit on the other side of the desk, too."
