The International Conference “BRIDGING MINDS AND SOCIETIES: PSYCHOANTHROPOLOGY FOR PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL WORK”, organized by Danubius International University, will take place on 14 March 2026 in a hybrid format. The event aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue among psychology, anthropology, and social work, providing an academic framework for the presentation and discussion of contemporary research relevant to understanding the relationship between the individual, culture, and society.
In line with these objectives and areas of interest, the conference proposes the following research themes:
- Culture and the construction of the self
- Emotional socialization across the life course
- Critical perspectives on theories concerning the psychosocial profiles of colonized populations
- Endogamy as a methodological and epistemological challenge in the study of historically marginalized communities
- Work, productivity, and psychological experience
- Bicultural identities and liminality
- Psychosocial constructions of otherness within minority communities
- Self-optimization and contemporary therapeutic cultures
- Virtual communities and the experimentation of identity
- Storytelling as a psychological and social practice
- Advancing culturally sensitive assessment and intervention
- Shifting analytical frameworks from individual pathology toward structural and systemic sources of psychological distress
Participants may deliver presentations in Romanian, English, or French and will have the opportunity to publish their papers in a special issue of the journal New Trends in Psychology. Participation and publication are free of charge, and abstracts may be submitted until 10 February 2026.
