DANUBIUS International University is a partner in the project “Promoting Accessibility, Biodiversity, and Resilience to Climate Change through Sustainable Practices” (Sustain BIO&CLIMA ACCESS) – BSB01253, implemented under the Interreg NEXT (VI-B) Black Sea Basin Program.

Implementation period: 30 months.

The project aims to contribute to increasing climate change resilience and protecting the environment in the Black Sea Basin region by revitalizing urban green spaces, promoting biodiversity, and implementing ecological and sustainable solutions.

As part of the project, the “Green Hub” investment will be carried out by the “Lower Danube Euroregion” Cross-Border Cooperation Association (ACTEDJ)—Partner 4—on the grounds of DANUBIUS International University in Galați—Partner 6.

This space will encourage the organization of outdoor activities for the Galați community, bringing together NGOs, academia, public administrations, and other local stakeholders to exchange ideas, raise awareness of environmental challenges, and develop sustainable initiatives. At the same time, the project will create opportunities for students, faculty, and nongovernmental organizations to join forces in designing and implementing eco-friendly solutions across all fields of activity.

This integrated approach extends the benefits beyond the academic environment, contributing to the protection of biodiversity, the strengthening of resilience to climate change, and the active involvement of communities in the Black Sea Basin region.

The main objective of the investment is to mitigate the impact of climate change through practical and environmentally friendly solutions. The use of sustainable materials, such as wood, reflects a commitment to environmental protection, and the street furniture will be designed to be durable, sturdy, and environmentally friendly, thereby reducing the vulnerability of the university’s infrastructure to the effects of climate change.
