The School of International Governance and Law at Danubius International University has developed, for the first time, an Academic and Research Fingerprint, a strategic instrument designed to reflect its scientific identity, international collaborative network, areas of excellence, and contribution to the advancement of knowledge at the global level.

This profile highlights the School’s principal research directions and academic impact, ranging from international law, global governance, and transdisciplinary legal methodology to artificial intelligence, digitalisation, equality, security, and existential risks. At the same time, it demonstrates the School’s integration into prestigious academic and scientific networks across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia.

The benefits of this initiative are substantial. The Fingerprint provides a clear and coherent representation of the School’s institutional profile, strengthens international visibility, facilitates the development of new academic partnerships and research projects, and supports institutional evaluation, internationalisation strategies, and the attraction of students, researchers, and collaborators. It also offers a valuable framework for monitoring academic performance and identifying areas with the greatest potential for future development.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, this Academic and Research Fingerprint reflects a significant expansion of the School’s international presence, the consolidation of scientific collaborations, active participation in global academic networks, involvement in international conferences and research initiatives, the strengthening of editorial activities, and growing contributions to fields of strategic importance for contemporary society.

Through this initiative, the School of International Governance and Law reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, international engagement, and the generation of sustainable scholarly impact.

At the conclusion of the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, the School of International Governance and Law conducted an assessment of its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting a particularly strong impact on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The results demonstrate the continued strengthening of the School’s international profile through the advancement of scientific research, the expansion of international academic cooperation, active participation in global networks and initiatives, the promotion of legal and digital innovation, and sustained commitment to the principles of inclusion, diversity, and academic responsibility.

This assessment confirms the School of International Governance and Law’s commitment to academic excellence, societal impact, and meaningful contributions to the development of more equitable, resilient, and sustainable communities at both national and international levels.

Kenyan universities are set to deepen academic links with Europe through a planned partnership with Romania’s Danubius International University that will establish what organizers describe as East Africa’s first structured Kenya-Romania European Union academic corridor.

The initiative, spearheaded by Kenya-based education pathway firm AspiraPath LLC, is expected to connect five Kenyan universities to EU-accredited master’s degree programmes under the Erasmus+ framework, potentially opening new opportunities for student mobility, dual certifications and joint research collaborations.

The proposed corridor, targets partnerships with AMREF International University, Strathmore University, Pwani University, Moi University and Kabarak University. Under the arrangement, Kenyan students would gain access to EU-recognized master’s degree pathways through Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements, while universities would pursue joint research programmes and dual-degree structures offering both Kenyan and European qualifications simultaneously.

“This partnership seeks to establish a structured and fully managed Kenya-Romania EU academic corridor,” the organizers said.“The collaboration will strengthen research, training and inclusive growth across Kenya and the wider East African region.”

Romania is seeking to anchor the partnerships across five Kenyan counties including Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Kilifi and Mombasa in a move expected to broaden regional access to international higher education opportunities beyond the capital.The proposed partnerships also come as Kenya continues positioning itself as a regional education hub, supported by expanding university enrolment, a young population and increased demand for digital and globally transferable skills.Danubius International University says its internationalization strategy prioritizes expanding academic partnerships outside Europe, increasing student mobility and promoting joint research and dual-degree programmes with foreign institutions. 

The Faculty of Law and International Governance of Danubius International University is proud to announce its participation, as an institutional partner, in the 6th Edition of the International Conference on Comparative and International Law, which will be held online via Zoom on 26 June 2026.

The conference is organized by the Existential Threats and Risks for All Working Group of the World Academy of Art and Science (USA), together with the International Observatory for Law and Transdisciplinarity (IOLT) within CIRET Paris, the University of Hertfordshire (United Kingdom), and the Society of Juridical and Administrative Sciences – Adjuris, bringing together researchers, academics, practitioners, and experts from numerous countries around the world.

We are honoured to announce that Associate Professor Dr. Cristina Elena Popa Tache, Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Governance, will participate as a keynote speaker in the panel entitled “ESIL Task Force on Underrepresentation”, dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and representation within the international legal community. At the same time, she serves as a member of the Organising Committee and is among the founders of this international academic project, which has evolved into a recognised platform for dialogue promoting comparative and international legal research.

A particularly important aspect of the conference is that its proceedings volumes are periodically submitted for evaluation for inclusion in the Web of Science – Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI), thereby contributing to the international visibility of the research presented.

The programme will include presentations and discussions on public international law, international investment law, international arbitration, European Union law, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, human rights, global governance, sustainability, and legal transdisciplinarity.
