In August 2026, Danubius International University (DIU) professors successfully prepared for and took the LanguageCert International ESOL exam (B2–C2). Launched as a pilot project by the Lifelong Learning and Technological Information Department, this initiative established a proven model ready for regional expansion.

We are pleased to announce that Danubius International University is a co-organizer of the 16th edition of the International Conference “Perspectives of Business Law in the Third Millennium”, which will take place online, via Zoom, on 20 November 2026.

The Conference is organized in cooperation with the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), Greece, CIRET Paris – International Observatory for Law and Transdisciplinarity (IOLT), France, Danubius International University, and the Society of Juridical and Administrative Sciences (ADJURIS).

Now in its 16th edition, the Conference brings together academics, researchers, and legal professionals from different jurisdictions, serving as a genuine international platform for debate on current and emerging legal and social issues.

We are particularly pleased to invite members of the academic community of Danubius International University who are interested in participating to register free of charge for the Conference sections, which address highly topical issues and offer excellent opportunities to present and discuss research findings in an international academic environment.

The Conference papers are published in volumes dedicated to the event, which are regularly submitted for evaluation for inclusion in the Web of Science – Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI).

Danubius International University (DIU) was strongly represented at the 2026 Reunion of the European Group of Public Law (EGPL), hosted by the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) in Greece, an important international academic and institutional forum dedicated to contemporary developments in public law, governance, and the rule of law.

The three-day Reunion opened with remarks delivered by H.E. Prof. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, former President of the Portuguese Republic, who was received and introduced by H.E. Prof. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, former President of the Hellenic Republic.

Representing Danubius International University, Prof. Cristina Elena Popa Tache participated in the meetings of the Board of Directors and the Council of Representatives, as well as in the academic and institutional debates of the Reunion. She was also a keynote speaker in Workshop 1, where she presented the paper:

“From Europe to Latin America: The Anticipatory State and the Legal Governance of Data Protection Risks.”

The presentation examined anticipatory governance and data protection from a transdisciplinary perspective, emphasizing the potential of transdisciplinarity as a methodological and governance instrument for understanding and managing increasingly complex technological risks. One of its central propositions was that the State of the near future will increasingly need to become a transdisciplinary State, capable of integrating legal, technological, ethical, institutional, and societal knowledge into anticipatory decision-making.

The School of Law and International Governance of Danubius International University was also represented through the academic contributions submitted by Prof. Andy Pușcă, Prof. Iulian Savenco, Prof. Alexandra Pană, and Prof. Nicolae Pană, further strengthening the University's presence within the scientific programme of this major European public law gathering.

The rule of law occupied a central place throughout the Reunion. The closing session, chaired by Prof. Sabino Cassese, Justice Emeritus of the Italian Constitutional Court, focused on the Global Rule of Law Commission and its reports, reaffirming the importance of responding to the continuing erosion of the rule of law. The session also included the meeting of the European Group of Public Law as the Scientific Council of EPLO and the presentation of the Thesis Prize to the 2025 winners, Andrea Giorgi and Natalia Melendez Gonzalez.

The Reunion also provided an important framework for high-level academic and institutional dialogue. Prof. Cristina Elena Popa Tache held discussions with distinguished participants, including Prof. Spyridon Flogaitis, President of EPLO, and H.E. Prof. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, former President of the Portuguese Republic, as well as numerous scholars, public-law experts, and representatives of academic institutions.

These exchanges also offered an opportunity to advance discussions around the concept of Anticipatory International Law: an approach exploring how international law can move beyond its predominantly reactive paradigm and develop stronger mechanisms of anticipation, prevention, and preparedness, while remaining firmly anchored in legality, fundamental rights, accountability, and the safeguards of the rule of law.

Through this participation, Danubius International University continues to strengthen its presence and representation within European and international academic structures and networks, while contributing to emerging debates on the future of law, governance, technological risk, and the rule of law.

First Day of the European Public Law Organization Annual Reunion 2026

The first day of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) Annual Reunion 2026 featured the participation of Associate Professor Cristina Elena Popa Tache in the Board of Directors, representing Danubius International University.

During today’s meeting, various aspects concerning the activities and future development of the organization were discussed, including the presentation and consideration of the EPLO Annual Activity Report 2026.

The programme will continue over the next two days, with meetings, workshops, and discussions dedicated to public law, governance, and international academic and institutional cooperation.
